Infamous Inch, Reading the Ruler and Combination Square
Measurements are utilized in nearly every aspect of the industry, from blueprint reading to knowing the quantity and dimensions of materials needed and used for construction job sites. As a trade worker it’s important to understand and learn how read the ruler and combination square. Rulers are used for measuring lines and finding length. The straight edge allows it to be used for drawing, scoring, or cutting. The combination square is a “do it all” shop tool. It is mainly used for determining the accuracy of a 90° angle, measuring a 45° angle, measuring the center of a circular object, finding depth, and simple distance measurements. When used properly and accurately, these handy measurement tools can help save time and materials.
